Staff Profile: Reinaldo Cruz

Reinaldo Cruz, known to BronxWorks staff members as "Cruz," has worked in Maintenance at the BronxWorks Morris Innovative Senior Center (Morris) for the past 27 years.  Born in Puerto Rico and residing in the Bronx, Reinaldo relocated to the east coast in the early seventies. He worked on farms in Delaware and Connecticut for a few years before moving to New York City.
Reinaldo states that he uses his hands to explore the world, always repairing and tinkering with appliances at home, and spends his free time fishing on City Island and the Long Island Sound. Reinaldo's skills with his hands serve him both at home and at Morris, where he is a resourceful repairman and dedicated employee. In fact, when a water main recently broke at Morris and resulted in a flood, Reinaldo arrived in his fishing gear, ever-prepared for even the worst of conditions!
According to Rosalina Luongo, Program Director at Morris, Reinaldo is extremely trustworthy and reliable, "which is priceless," she said.  His work is defined by his humility and shaped by his dependable and punctual personality.  "He's the first one there when the center opens," said Rosalina. Reinaldo knows Morris inside and out. "No one knows the Center like Reinaldo does," Rosalina added.  BronxWorks is lucky to have an employee as talented and loyal as Reinaldo Cruz.
