Employee Benefits

BronxWorks is proud to offer highly competitive benefits to virtually all employees.

The following apply to full-time salaried employees as well as part-time salaried employees who work at least 20 hours per week year-round:

Referral Bonus

Employees are eligible to receive up to 10 referral bonuses per calendar year (January 1 – December 31). Employees who make a successful referral will receive $500 per referral

  • Payment will be considered as a bonus payment
  • Payment will be rendered when a referral has successfully completed their 6-month orientation period

The referring employee must be listed on the referred employee’s application for employment as the referral source.

Employees may not receive a referral bonus for any employee that they supervise, directly or indirectly.

Holidays

BronxWorks has designated 13 paid holidays.

Sick Leave

Full-time employees are entitled to up to 12 days of sick leave in case of the employee’s illness. Part-time salaried employees who work at least 20 hours per week earn sick leave on a prorated basis.

Annual Leave

Full-time employees are entitled to up to 15 days of annual leave. Full-time employees who have worked with the agency for over 5 years are entitled to up to 20 days of annual leave. Up to four days each year may be considered personal days, which may be used for non-medical emergencies. Salaried employees who work 20 hours or more per week accrue annual leave on a prorated basis, based on the number of hours worked per week.

Health insurance coverage (90-95% employer paid)

Eligible employees may select health insurance coverage from Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. In- and out-of-network options are available. Separate dental plans are available under Cigna DHMO and PPO plans. Coverage begins 60 days after the first of the month following the date of hire.

Life insurance coverage (100% employer paid)

All eligible employees receive life insurance coverage equivalent to one year’s salary. Insurance coverage begins on the first day of the month following the month in which the employee began work at BronxWorks.

Pension Plan (100% employer paid)

Upon an eligible employee’s completion of one year of employment, BronxWorks begins to contribute to a pension plan with Lincoln Financial. Employees become fully vested in the pension plan on their 3rd anniversary.

  • At 1-5 years of employment, BronxWorks contributes 4% of the employee’s salary
  • At 5-10 years, BronxWorks contributes 7%
  • After 10 years, BronxWorks contributes 10%

Employees can allocate the contributions into any of Lincoln Financial investment options. The pension money becomes available at age 55. Employees are automatically vested on their 55th birthday anytime after their first year.

Tax Deferred Annuity Plan

Eligible employees may participate in our Tax Deferred Annuity Plan offered through Lincoln Financial which allow employees to defer federal income taxes as they accumulate money for their retirement through convenient biweekly pre-tax contributions. Employees can allocate the contributions into Lincoln’s investment options and can receive investment advice and retirement planning support from Lincoln Financial. Employees retain 100% of their contributions regardless of when they separate from BronxWorks. TDA’s may be activated at any time. The minimum employee contribution is $10 per paycheck and the maximum is determined each year by the IRS. TDA participants receive their money at age 59½.

Commuter Benefit

Employees may use the commuter benefit program to have money taken out of their paychecks pre-tax to pay for mass-transit or parking expenses associated with their commute. Employees are issued a convenient debit card that can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted to make transit purchases. Parking expenses can be reimbursed if credit cards are not accepted. Maximum contributions are determined by the IRS.

Employee Assistance Program

BronxWorks has an Employee Assistance Program, a free and confidential assessment, counseling, and referral service, to assist employees and their families with a wide range of personal problems. The EAP is an independent firm staffed by professional counselors who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
