On Sunday, November 6th, eleven people ran the ING New York City Marathon for BronxWorks. The $30,000 they raised will support our programs for low-income children in the South Bronx, including:
- After-school programs
- Summer day camps
- Teen programs
- Academic tutoring
- College prep
- Recreation programs for children living in our homeless family shelters
Thank you to Marathon runners Brad Allred, Chessa Forer, Eric Hill, Jennifer Kamara, Eric Maldonado, Sandra Maldonado, Ryan McDonough, Jamel Melendez, Jimmy Saldana, David Ward, and Courtney Wong!
Jennifer Kamara and Jamel Melendez are BronxWorks staff members. Melendez ran in honor of Darian Armfield, a young BronxWorks employee who died earlier this year.
Eric Hill is a longtime BronxWorks supporter who also plays at fundraising events for us with his Eric Hill Band.
Courtney Wong, an employee with the ReServe program, which places seniors in stipend-supported positions in the nonprofit and government sectors, ran to help cover the cost of an older adult who will join BronxWorks in 2012.
