Volunteer Opportunities

Adolescent Development Programs

Volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of BronxWorks teen programs that take place at our Community Center. Volunteers can help tutor, assist with poetry workshops, and support visual arts and music activities.

Center for Achieving Future Education (CAFÉ)

CAFÉ needs volunteers to serve as mentors to high school students, helping them identify, visit, and apply to colleges of interest, as well as having conversations about college life.

Early Childhood Learning Centers (ECLC)

The ECLCs need volunteers, preferably with early childhood education experience, to assist teachers in the classroom.

Even Start Family Literacy Program

Even Start needs volunteers to assist in the infant-toddler classroom.

Family Residences

Our three transitional shelters need volunteers to assist in the daycare classroom and with school-aged youth in the after-school program. Some shelters also have projects working with parents in developing a resume, identifying and applying for jobs, and practicing interview skills.

Immigration

Our Immigration office needs volunteers to assist with screening walk-in clients and general administrative activities. Volunteers with language skills are highly encouraged.

Living Room

Volunteers at our 24-hour drop-in center for homeless individuals are needed to run workshops with guests, organize games and activities, and plan recreational outings.

Positive Living

Our Saturday Families Together program for families affected by HIV needs volunteers to work with children doing arts and crafts, team-building, and family centered activities. Our Case Management Program also needs volunteers looking for an office experience, collecting information on services for people living with HIV, administering client satisfaction surveys, and planning holiday functions.

Project Achieve

Consistent volunteers are needed who can work with elementary-age children in Project Achieve, our Community Center’s after-school and summer camp program.

School-based After-School Programs

BronxWorks operates 4 after-school programs at middle and elementary schools, as well as programs at 2 high schools that can use volunteers to assist with tutoring, activities, and developing internship placements.

Senior Centers

Volunteers at our senior centers organize and implement activities for our guests, including shopping trips, bingo, board games, dances, and holiday events.
