A distribution of winter coats at BronxWorks Morris Innovative Senior Center on Saturday, January 11, was such a big success that we will continue the distribution at the center on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2 to 4 P.M., through to March, said Maria Rivera, director of services for seniors, who coordinated the coat drive.  A total of 571 coats for adults and children were passed out at the kickoff event.

Ms. Rivera said that a steady stream of people have been picking up coats at Morris ISC.  She urges people to donate more coats to New York Cares.

New York Cares, a frequent partner of BronxWorks, chose us as the Bronx outpost for the widespread winter coat distribution.  The organization was delighted by the success of the coat distribution, which received heavy media coverage. Calling the Saturday distribution a “fantastic operation,” Steve Streicher, director of marketing communications, expressed “thanks to BronxWorks for all its efforts.”

This is a prime example of a successful collaboration between BronxWorks and an organization that has been a primary supporter of us over the years, and example of how each side can benefit the other.
