BronxWorks was the Bronze Prize winner in the 2013 New York Nonprofit Excellence Awards competition on November 21st!  Culled from a pool of nonprofit management excellence contenders from across the greater New York area, BronxWorks and two additional winners were selected for demonstrating top-notch and replicable management practices.

Winners were chosen based on eight areas of management excellence: focus on results; governance structure; financial management; organizational practices; human resources; information technology; communications; and fundraising.

Before the award presentation, BronxWorks Interim Executive Director Eileen Torres and Board Chair David McLean were interviewed by WNYC’s Brian Lehrer.

Eileen Torres said, “BronxWorks is extremely honored to have been selected for a 2013 Nonprofit Excellence Award.  This is a great moment for us as a Bronx-based institution and as a member of the New York City settlement house system.”  BronxWorks is the first organization from the Bronx to win a Nonprofit Excellence Award.

The competition is run by the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York in collaboration with The New York Community Trust and Philanthropy New York, and co-sponsored by New York Magazine and WNYC.
