BronxWorks’ ongoing youth programs will be able to expand, thanks to a three-year, $512,000 grant from the Pinkerton Foundation, a partner with us for several years.  Elisa Istueta, BronxWorks’ children and youth director, said the funding will be directed to our after-school and summer camp programs, and enable her to hire a director of adolescent programs who will supervise programs for teens at the Community Center, as well as provide them with individual and group counseling.

The Pinkerton grant also supports a retention specialist, based at Bronx Community College, to provide guidance and assistance to students in college to insure they get their degrees.  “Once again a foundation has recognized the good work that BronxWorks has done,” commented Eileen Torres, our interim executive director.  “Nonprofits like BronxWorks could not thrive without the generous support of foundations like Pinkerton.”
