Jobs-Plus is a program BronxWorks operates in three New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) complexes that cover the South Melrose and Mott Haven sections of the South Bronx.  Started in 2011 with support from the Social Innovation Fund and the Mayor’s Fund for New York City, its purpose is to increase the earnings, savings, and employment capacity of working-age residents in public housing.  Currently in operation in the Betances, Courtlandt, and E. Roberts Moore Houses of NYCHA, which consist of 43 buildings with 1,771 apartments and 3,859 persons, a grant from the United Way of New York City will enable the program to expand financial management and financial counseling services through September.   Ariva and The Financial Clinic (TFC) will support these efforts.  Similarly, in partnership with the Food Bank of New York City, our Workforce Development Center (WDC) will also facilitate free income tax preparation assistance for Jobs-Plus participants and other WDC clients through mid-April.

“BronxWorks has enjoyed strong relationships with the United Way, Ariva, The Financial Clinic, and the Food Bank for New York through the years,” says BronxWorks executive director Eileen Torres.  “This will deepen our connections with these institutions and enhance our ability to serve those in need.”
