BronxWorks has numerous homelessness prevention programs to keep Bronx residents in crisis from losing their apartments. We do the following services:
- Provide financial counseling and help people create action plans
- Intervene with landlords and advocate to settle rent arrears
- Help navigate Housing Court
- Help qualifying families get rent subsidies
- Help people keep their Section 8 vouchers
- Help people take measures to prevent threats of eviction from reoccurring
HomeBase
HomeBase is BronxWorks' eviction prevention program for residents of Bronx Community District 4. It is designed to help individuals and families avoid the trauma of homelessness by helping overcome the immediate problems and obstacles that could result in the loss of housing. Program services are crafted to meet the unique needs of each individual or family and to help meet the demands of maintaining a household.
When you come to the HomeBase office, you will be assigned a case manager who will coordinate all services. Some of these services will be provided directly through HomeBase and others will be provided by our community partners. Services that are available to qualified households include:
- Family mediation
- Landlord mediation
- Household budgeting skills
- Legal services
- Short-term financial assistance
- Mental health and substance abuse services
- Household repairs
- Entitlements
- Child Care
- Education
- Employment
