Foster Care Prevention

Family Enrichment Program

The BronxWorks Family Enrichment Program (FEP) works with families residing in Community Districts 4 and 5.  Its goals are to ensure that children and families are safe, keep families together, and prevent the placement or re-placement of youngsters into the foster care system.  Case managers use the broad and diverse spectrum of services that BronxWorks offers to address the needs of families in crisis.  Most cases are assigned by the city’s Administration for Children’s Services, although we take a small number of self-referrals and walk-ins.

Bridge Builders Program

Bridge Builders is a community collaborative located in the Highbridge section of the South Bronx.  BronxWorks is a part of this collaborative.  Our function is to help divert children from being placed or re-placed into foster care.  We work with families whose children attend three schools in the Highbridge neighborhood: PS 11, PS 73, and PS 126.  Bridge Builders links families in need with services like housing, benefits, legal assistance, domestic violence prevention, substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, and parenting classes.
