BronxWorks has education and employment programs for out-of-school youth aged 16-24.  In addition to our pre-HSE and HSE prep classes, we also provide job readiness training, job placement help, college access, and other services.  After participants have found work, BronxWorks follows up with the young people to help them retain their jobs.

BronxWorks also provides individual case management services to ensure that participants have the support needed to overcome various obstacles and achieve their goals.

Excel Education and Employment Program

Excel offers career training that exposes youth to a variety of employment options so that they can choose the area that most interests them.  In addition, our services prepare young adults for the world of work, helping them to create resumes, prepare for job interviews, gain computer skills, and learn how to manage money.

For those who did not graduate high school, Excel has daily HSE classes that combine group and individual instruction to prepare participants to obtain their high school equivalency diploma.

Neighborhood Development Area (NDA) Opportunity Youth Program

The BronxWorks Neighborhood Development Area (NDA) Opportunity Youth Program  is a 14-week paid internship program that allows participants to engage professionally in a field of their interest while also taking part in weekly professional development workshops.

This program is designed to serve young adults between the ages of 16-24 who are not in school, not working, and residing in either District 4 or District 5 in the Bronx. The goal of this program is to have all participants develop an updated resume, present evidence of professional development through work-site evaluations, and secure employment or education.

Participants can earn up to $2,000 working in retail, office, childcare, maintenance, and more.

This year, the program will kick off with a three-day orientation in February. Participants will be able to begin earning money March 1, 2021.
